Egypt day tours: questions and answers
Everything guests ask before booking a Cairo or Luxor day.
From the Red Sea
By coach between 02:00 and 03:30 depending on your hotel, back around midnight. By plane pickup about 04:30, back about 22:00. It is a long day; bring a neck pillow and sleep on the bus.
The coach is the cheapest: 5.5 to 7 hours each way with a guide on board, shared with other guests. The plane takes an hour from Hurghada or Sharm, then a private car and Egyptologist in Cairo, so you have more time at the sites. Families with small children and anyone who dislikes long drives choose the plane.
Yes. Transfers between the Red Sea and Cairo or Luxor have run daily without convoy since 2016. Vehicles are licensed, drivers are rested and the guide carries a Ministry of Tourism ID.
Yes. A small per-person surcharge (5 to 25 EUR depending on the distance) is shown in the booking form before you confirm. From Marsa Alam we offer Luxor by car and Cairo by plane only.
Planning
Light clothes, closed shoes, a hat and sunscreen. Shoulders and knees covered for mosques and churches; scarves are lent at the door. A light jacket for winter mornings and the balloon.
Tours booked from Cairo or Luxor, and every flight and private-car option, are private with your own Egyptologist. The coach option from Hurghada and Sharm El Sheikh is shared with a guide on board; a private guide at the sites can be added.
Yes on every tour except the balloon (from 6 years). Children 4 to 11 pay the child price; under 4 travel free on the lap. On flight options an infant fee applies.
English on every tour. German, French, Spanish, Italian, Polish and Russian on request at booking, subject to availability, no surcharge for the main languages.
Full days include lunch at a local restaurant (drinks extra) unless the tour says otherwise; half days and evenings state what is included.
The Giza plateau is 2 to 3 km spread over the visit, Karnak about 2 km, the Valley of the Kings tombs have ramps and stairs. Tell us about mobility needs and we adapt the order and use the electric trains.
October to April, 20 to 28 °C. Summer days start earlier and end earlier; Luxor in July reaches 40 °C, so the balloon and the temples happen before 11:00.
The sites
Yes, for every site listed in the itinerary. Optional extras are stated on each tour (inside the Great Pyramid, the Seti I tomb, the Nefertari tomb, the mummies hall when not listed) and paid on the spot.
Yes. The Great Pyramid ticket is about 900 EGP and sold at the plateau; the third pyramid (Menkaure) is included in the VIP tour; the Red Pyramid at Dahshur is included in the Saqqara day.
Yes, including the Tutankhamun galleries. Plan three hours with a guide; a full day if you love museums.
The general ticket gives three tombs from a rotating list (usually Ramses IV, Ramses IX, Merenptah or Ramses III). Tutankhamun, Seti I and Ramses V/VI are extra and can be added on the spot or booked with the tours that include them.
Booking and payment
You book without a card. Pay on the day in EUR (or the equivalent in EGP or USD) to the guide, or by bank transfer in advance. Flight options need the flight paid 72 hours before travel; we send the link.
Free up to 24 hours before pickup; 48 hours for tours with a flight. A balloon flight cancelled by Civil Aviation for wind is refunded in full.
Bus and car days until 18:00 the day before, if seats remain. Flight days three days ahead. For same-day requests message us on WhatsApp.
You receive an email with a reference within minutes and a WhatsApp or email from the team with the exact pickup time within the hour in daytime (Egypt time). The pickup time is repeated the evening before.
