Soma Bay is 50 minutes south of Hurghada and 3 hours from Luxor by the Safaga road, the shortest of any resort: Luxor day trips by private car leave at 05:30 and return by 20:00. Cairo runs by coach (pickup about 02:00) or by plane from Hurghada airport. Pickup surcharge 10 EUR per person.

The Safaga to Qena road makes Soma Bay the closest resort to Luxor. A private car collects you at 05:30, you are in the Valley of the Kings by 09:00 and back at the hotel by 20:00. Dendera and Abydos take the same road north of Luxor.

The coach is the cheapest and the most common: pickup between 02:00 and 03:30, 5.5 to 6 hours each way with a guide on board, back around midnight.
