The version of the Cairo day for guests who have done the museums: all the living history of the old city in one relaxed day with a car between the districts and the walking kept to the good parts.
Pickup at 09:00. The Citadel of Saladin first: the Muhammad Ali Mosque with its alabaster courtyard and the terrace view. Below the citadel, the twin giants of Sultan Hassan (1356, the finest Mamluk mosque in the city) and Al-Rifai, where the last king of Egypt and the last shah of Iran are buried.
Coptic Cairo after lunch: the Hanging Church built over the gate of the Roman fortress, the church of St Sergius and Bacchus with the crypt where the Holy Family is said to have stayed, and the Ben Ezra Synagogue where the Cairo Geniza documents were found.
The day ends at Khan El Khalili and Al-Muizz Street with the guide, a tea at El Fishawy and time to shop. Back at the hotel around 16:00.
