Cairo at night: Khan El Khalili, feluccas and where to eat

Cairo evenings run from 18:00 to 22:00 and cost 45 to 80 EUR with pickup: a sunset felucca on the Nile, Al-Muizz Street and Khan El Khalili lit up, a Nile dinner cruise with a show, or a Bedouin camp behind the pyramids. All four are private except the dinner cruise, and all include dinner or drinks.

Al-Muizz and Khan El Khalili

From 19:00 Al-Muizz Street is pedestrian and lit facade by facade, from the Qalawun complex to Bab al-Futuh. Khan El Khalili stays open late, the coppersmiths hammer, El Fishawy pours mint tea. Our night tour adds Al-Azhar Park at sunset and dinner.

Felucca at sunset

One hour under sail from Garden City or Zamalek with the sun behind the towers. Combine it with the old city on the felucca night tour, or take the private felucca with lunch earlier in the day.

Dinner cruise

The big boat: buffet, live band, belly dance and tanoura, two hours between the Cairo Tower and the Giza bridges. Loud, happy, good for groups.

Bedouin camp

Forty-five minutes into the desert behind the plateau: tea by the fire, camel ride in the dark with the pyramids lit on the horizon, grilled dinner, music. The family favourite.

Where to eat

Old city: Naguib Mahfouz café for the setting, the koshari houses of Al-Muski for the dish. Nile: the restaurants of Zamalek for a table with a view. Giza: rooftops facing the pyramids for a tea at sunset.
