L'excursion

Le programme détaillé ci-dessous est en anglais ; le guide parle votre langue le jour même.

The dishes Egyptians eat at home are not the ones on hotel buffets. This class is in a real apartment in Old Cairo or Maadi with a host family that has cooked for guests for years, and the recipes come home with you.

Pickup at 10:00 or 16:00. The host meets you at the local market to buy the vegetables, herbs and bread for the day, explaining what molokhia is and how to pick it, and where the family buys its rice and lentils.

In the kitchen you cook three to four dishes with the host and the guide translating: koshari with its crispy onions and tomato-garlic sauce, molokhia soup with chicken, mahshi (stuffed vine leaves or peppers), ta'ameya, and a dessert.

Then you eat what you cooked at the family table with tea and conversation. A printed recipe card comes with you. Back at the hotel about 14:30 or 20:30.

Great time and great food with Ahmed and his family

I had such a great time with Ahmed, his wife and his 2 lovely daughters! They make you feel at home as soon as you step inside their flat. The food we had/made was amazing, special mention to the baba ganoush! I am a vegan and Ahmed arranged everything according to my regime. I strongly recommend to try this experience to enjoy…

An Authentic Heart-to-Heart Over Egyptian Flavors

This wasn't just a cooking class; it was an invitation into the heart of an Egyptian home. Spending the afternoon with a local family provided a window into the local culture that you simply cannot get from a museum or a tour bus. The conversations were just as nourishing as the food—we discussed everything from daily life in…
