Cairo lives at night. In summer the heat drops, the bazaar fills and the mosques on Al-Muizz are lit. This is the tour to take on your first evening.
Pickup at 18:00. First stop Al-Azhar Park on the hill above the old city, for the sunset view over the domes and minarets with the citadel behind. Then down into Al-Muizz Street, pedestrian at night and lit facade by facade, from the Qalawun complex to Bab al-Futuh.
Khan El Khalili next: lanterns on, shops open till late, the coppersmiths hammering, a mint tea at El Fishawy. The guide walks you through the lanes and leaves time to browse.
Dinner at 20:30 at a local restaurant in the old city or on the Nile, depending on the evening: mezze, grilled kofta and chicken, koshari, Egyptian sweets. A short walk on the Corniche to see the Cairo Tower and the bridges lit up, then the car back to your hotel around 22:00.

Mahmoud Khalefa was a great tour guide. He was very knowledgeable about Egyptian history. The El Hakem mosque was beautiful and interesting. The Bazaar was very lively. The Sharma that we are at the restaurant was very delicious. All in all it was a great experience. The experience was definitely worth the price.
