Karnak is the largest religious building ever constructed and Luxor Temple the most elegant. Together they take a morning, or an afternoon that ends with Luxor Temple lit at dusk.
Karnak first: through the first pylon and the Avenue of Ram-headed Sphinxes into the Great Hypostyle Hall, 134 columns over 5,000 m² raised by Seti I and Ramses II. The obelisk of Hatshepsut, 29.5 m of pink granite, the sacred lake, the scarab of Amenhotep III, and the Festival Hall of Thutmose III. About two and a half hours with your guide.
Luxor Temple next, 3 km south along the Avenue of Sphinxes reopened in 2021: the pylon of Ramses II with its single obelisk (its twin stands in Paris), the colonnade of Amenhotep III, the mosque of Abu Haggag built inside the temple, and the Roman chapel. In the afternoon slot you finish as the floodlights come on.
Back at your hotel or boat about 12:00 or 18:30.

What a wonderful adventure through the past today! We really enjoyed our time today and would certainly book again.
