A felucca is a lateen-rigged wooden boat sailed by one boatman with no engine. On the Maadi stretch the banks are green, the water is quiet and Cairo feels a hundred kilometres away.
Pickup at 12:00 and transfer to the moorings. The boat is prepared with cushions, a shade awning and a low table. The boatman casts off and tacks upriver with the wind, past the islands and the palm groves of Maadi.
Lunch is served on board after the first half hour: grilled chicken or kofta, rice, mixed salads, tahini, bread, fresh fruit, tea and soft drinks. Vegetarian and fish menus on request.
The second hour is the return with the current. Guests who choose the 15:30 slot sail into the sunset and return with the city lights on. Back at the hotel about 15:30 or 18:30.

Yes. Life jackets in all sizes are on board, the boat has a railing and the boatman has sailed for decades. Children love steering with him.
Too weak: the boat drifts with the current and the boatman rows. Too strong: the port authority closes sailing and we move the sail or refund it.
You book without a card. You pay on the day of the tour in EUR (or the equivalent in EGP or USD) to the guide, or by bank transfer in advance if you prefer. Flight options need the flight paid 72 hours before travel; we send a link.
Free cancellation up to 24 hours before pickup, 48 hours for tours that include a flight. Balloon flights cancelled by Civil Aviation for wind are refunded in full.

A piece of quiet in the chaos of Cairo!
We wanted a private felucca as we preferred a quieter experience on the Nile. We didn’t want belly dancers and so this option was great. Our driver Ahmed Ibrahim kept in touch beforehand, checked timings with us and made arrangements on where and when we were to be collected from. All easy information. Safe driver, clean car…

Awesome experience
Awesome experience floating down the Nile River. The guides were extremely friendly and accommodating for our family of 6 adults. They let us connect our own music to the speaker as well. Dinner was very yummy and we wished we booked it for longer! Very very cool thing to do for our first time in Egypt.

Calme et zenitude
À recommander si vous voulez naviguer et manger qqch au calme. Car la ville est très bruyante et sur le Nil c’est calme. Notre chauffeur et guide était très attentif à nos moindres désirs. Très gentil et serviable. Sur place la papa (éleveur de pigeon pour le plaisir) et son fils qui ont piloté le bateau etaient vraiment super…
